1. Formal and Informal feedback

A formal feedback follows a structured or preset format using which the receiver frames feedback and sends it. It covers predefined points and has a specific blueprint. E.g – “Congratulations on scoring A+ in your final examination. You are promoted to class X”.

Informal feedback is spontaneously framed and does not stick to a specific structure such as instant comments by the the listener or audience. E.g : “Good job! Congratulations!”

A descriptive feedback provides meaningful information in a detailed expressive manner that also contains some analysis or suggestions. E.g – “All paragraphs should cover basically one idea. Only one paragraph was as per this specifications, other paragraphs covered multiple ideas and the information was also not linked.”

A non-descriptive feedback provides some specific information but does not give detailed descriptions. Eg- “I only liked your 3rd paragraph. Others need improvement.”

3. Specific and Non-specific feedback

The specific Feedback talks about a thing or a point particularly without talking about a general overview. E.g : “I liked the way you described your grandpa’s character. It makes me feel like I know him.”

The non-specific feedback talks about the entire thing while giving a general overview. It does not particularly pinpoint a specific thing/feature. Eg. – “I liked your story. It’s good.”
